COMPETITION: World Chef Championship
A graduate of the Kyoto Culinary Art College, Chef Tsuchiya spent 13 years at Kyoto Hotel Okura, where he honed his craft in classical French gastronomy. During this time, he actively participated in numerous culinary competitions, establishing himself as a rising star in Japan’s fine dining scene. Having been selected as Japan’s representative for the 2020 S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy, Asia, a prestigious competition that recognizes the world's most promising chefs under 30, Chef Tsuchiya cemented his track record and garnered national and international recognition. In 2022, he placed second in the Bocuse d’Or Japan Selection, solidifying his reputation as one of the country’s top French chefs. In 2021, Chef Tsuchiya was appointed Executive Chef at Grand Rocher Yodoyabashi and Pluie d’été in Kitashinchi, Osaka, followed by his role as Executive Chef at Restaurant N.H. in 2022. Known for his astute and seamless blend of traditional French techniques with modern creativity, Chef Tsuchiya delivers his distinct brand of ingredient-driven cuisine. As he steps into his role at Waldorf Astoria Osaka, his dedication to culinary excellence and innovation will be undoubtedly instrumental in elevating the hotel’s world-class dining experience.
